How the exam is actually scored
Two of these rules fail candidates who know the material perfectly well. Both are about the format rather than the road, and both take about a minute to learn. Everything below describes the Klasse B first-acquisition theory exam — the extension exam, sat by drivers who already hold a licence and are adding a class, uses a different question count and a tighter error-point ceiling.
The shape of it
- 30 questions in 45 minutes.
- Questions are weighted 2, 3, 4 or 5 error points — they are not worth the same.
- You pass with 10 error points or fewer.
- Available in English, and in a range of other languages.
The first rule that catches people
Two 5-point questions answered wrongly fails you outright, even though that is exactly 10 points and 10 points otherwise passes. Miss a 5, a 3 and a 2 and you pass on the same total. This is why the heavy questions are worth studying first.

The second rule that catches people
Many questions have more than one correct answer, and you must select all of them. There is no partial credit: choosing two of the three correct options scores the same as choosing nothing. Read every option on every question, every time — the habit is worth more than another hour of revision.
